Ed Forsman –Associate Consultant, Mimac
Ed has over 20 years of experience in the ICT industry, having undertaken a wide range of technical and business oriented roles. For the past eleven years, Ed has worked as a consultant, specialising in new product and service development through the application of proprietary methodologies, for large corporate and public sector organisations in New Zealand, Australia and Singapore. The scope of his work has ranged from business and technology strategy development, through to procurement, implementation and project related activities. Ed provides a unique blend of technical and business expertise, combined with strong commercial skills, and communications skills at the executive level.
After initial experience as a radio technician with BCL, Ed held a succession of technical and marketing roles at Tait Electronics and Telecom, culminating in a Sales Management role for Netway Communications, running a senior account team selling telecommunications outsourcing solutions into the top 150 corporate and government organizations. Since the establishing his consulting practice in 1995, Ed has undertaken assignments for over 40 different organisations in business creation (including business development and channel management), ICT technical consulting; strategic, business and marketing planning, market research, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) studies, business process design, managing procurement processes, project management, conducting post-implementation reviews, major bid management and web site development. He co-founded Essential Networks Group in 2000 with a likeminded group of experienced ICT professionals based in New Zealand and Australia. Using the associate model, ENG has undertaken a wide range of ICT-oriented assignments from strategic analysis through to implementation and post-implementation review. Ed specialised in developing the group’s Total Cost of Ownership benchmarking practice, and is now widely recognised as an authority in the area of TCO benchmarking and optimisation in the New Zealand corporate and public sector. He has delivered conference papers on the subject on two separate occasions.
